New Japanese ambassador presents credentials
Nobuhito Hobo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan
to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka arrived in Sri Lanka
on October 16.

the Presidential Secretariat yesterday. External Affairs

Ambassador Hobo succeeds Ambassador Kunio Takahashi who left Sri
Lanka on October 9. Ambassador Hobo presented his credentials to
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, on October 17. Ambassador Hobo is the
twenty-first Japanese ambassador in Sri Lanka since diplomatic relations
was established between the two countries in 1952.
Born on August 9, 1950, he graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture,
Hokkaido University in 1975 and joined the Forestry Agency of the
Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Equipped with a wide experience in the Economic Cooperation Bureau
and JICA behind him, ambassador Hobo is hopeful that he would be able to
contribute positively towards further promoting bilateral relations
between the two countries.
