Vietnamese First Lady visits Janakala Kendraya

Vietnamese First Lady Mai Thi Hanh visited the Janakala Kendraya in Battaramulla on Friday during her visit to Sri Lanka. Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Minister Douglas Devananda and Deputy Minister Weerakumara Dissanayaka and the Janakala Kendraya Chairman Buddhi Keerthisena accompanied the First Lady who observed the traditional products turned out by Sri Lankan craftsmen and promised to support these industries to achieve better standards to capture the international market.

She was presented with two souvenirs made by traditional craftsmen. Minister Devananda took the opportunity to inquire into problems faced by the craftsmen.

They said finding markets for the products, promoting the Janakala Kendraya and the need of a bus to the road that leads to the site were some of the problems they faced.
