Over 200 suffer food poisoning

A total of 217 students, teachers and parents in the Talawakele area who participated in a Children's Day ceremony, were hospitalized due to food poisoning.

The children participated in an event to mark Children's Day at Talawakele Tamil Maha Vidyalaya yesterday.

All those participants, who had the mid-day meal provided by the organizers of the function, had taken ill with food poisoning. The victims were warded at the Kotagala, Didula, Dikoya, Maskeliya and Bogawanthalawa Hospitals.
