Thriposha to increase production

The country’s Thriposha production is about 16,000 metric tonnes per
year and plans are under way to increase production to 18,000 metric
tonnes from next January.
Sri Lanka Thriposha Company Chairman Sarath Chandra Vithana told
Daily News Business that the demand for Thriposha is increasing and
intention of the government is to provide Thriposha for all needy people
throughout the country. The Health Ministry has recently taken over the
administration of the Thriposha company that produce a nutritious
supplement distributed free to pregnant women and children.
The government has also taken measures to develop the machinery and
the distribution system to increase production.
The company distributes Thriposha free to pregnant women, breast
feeding mothers and children suffering from under nutrition. The main
ingredients of the Thriposha is soya, maize, vitamins and milk powder.
He said that main ingredients of Thriposha including soya and maize are
bought from farmers around the country.
Thriposha is a fortified blended food supplement which contains
energy, protein and the required micronutrient, given free to the most
nutritionally vulnerable segments of the population under the national
nutrition programme. |
