Suspect PC remanded

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducting investigations
into the killing of Presidential Director General on Trade Union Affairs
and former Colombo District Parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman
Premachandra, yesterday produced a Police Constable who is alleged to
have been involved in the shooting incident, before Colombo Additional
Magistrate and remanded till October 18.
On an application by the CID the magistrate directed the suspect to
be produced before an identification parade on the next date.
The special CID team deployed by the CID DIG had recovered 2 T 56
weapons, 12 pistols and two revolvers and questioned 37 persons
including several security personnel who were present at the scene.
Colombo District UPFA MP Duminda Silva who was seriously injured
during the shooting incident is warded at the intensive care unit at Sri
Jayawardenapura General Hospital.
Another person who was injured during the shooting incident had died
at the Colombo National Hospital and two others also injured during the
shooting also had been warded at the Colombo National Hospital.
