The President, the Health Care and Nutrition Minister and the
Government Medical Officers Association merit the gratitude of the
nation for implementing an indispensable and an effective medical scheme
which is keeping the doors of the OPD in government hospitals open till
8.00 PM daily. This is a very praiseworthy step which enables the
ordinary people to procure medical treatment conveniently. It is also a
pleasure to see the medical staff in these institutions rendering their
attention to patients even in late evenings.
This is a good service specially for the people from distant villages
who travel in public transport late in the evenings to get the medical
treatment.

There are pot holes all over on the gravel path of our common garden
in Ferguson’s Road, Colombo 15 and rain water gets collected causing
great inconvenience to the residents. It has become a haven to
mosquitoes for breeding.
During rainy days the lane is impassable. Garbage collection also is
not satisfactory. We have to carry the garbage to the CMC depot at our
cost.

Khairiya Muslim Girls’ School, at 166, Dematagoda Road, Colombo 9 has
been badly inconvenienced for a long time due to lack of space for the
school. As a result the students have to share classrooms and attend
afternoon sessions. Recently the primary classes were shifted to
Al-Hijra Muslim School in Kupiyawatte.
Due to the request of ex-Deputy Mayor Azad Salley the president
donated prime land opposite the school. The parents were invited to a
special function held in this regard at Temple Trees.
The parents are very much pleased and wish to convey their heartfelt
thanks to Azad Sally and to the President for their generous support for
the school which had been badly neglected for the past years.
