Keheliya tells Kandy voters:

Vote in a UPFA administration

Minister
Keheliya Rambukwella

Mass Media and Communications Minister Keheliya Rambukwella urged Kandy voters to follow the example set by the rest of the country and elect a UPFA run administration to govern their municipality, at Saturday’s poll. “We have to decide whether we are going to be left behind or go with the rest of the country in developing our areas,” the Kandy district Parliamentarian asked of party activists from Kandy, Kundasale and Gangawata Korale at a meeting held in Kandy.

At the event held under the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the minister also urged voters of Kundasale and Gangawatakorale to elect a UPFA led administration to those councils in the interest of their regions’ future development, progress and welfare of these people.

The minister while pointing out the need for a strong relationship between the government and the Municipal Council to carry out the planned activities, requested the people of Kandy to join with the government at the forthcoming polls to strengthen the development process of the city and the district.

He told party activists to make the people at grassroots level aware of the importance of a strong bond between the government and the local councils to supplement development in their respective areas.

The UNP led Kandy Municipal Council had failed to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the people and thus it was time for a change, he added.

The minister pointed out that even during the UNP rule of the Council, the government had to step in to enact development within the city as the Council had failed to do so. Thus he told Kandy voters that it was time to end the 58 year long rule of the Council by UNP and elect a UPFA run administration in the interest of city development and for the welfare of its people.
