Negombo bus stand opened

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa opened the newly constructed Negombo bus stand yesterday. The Economic Development Ministry and the Negombo Municipal Council spent Rs 220 million for the bus stand. This Three-storeyed bus stand can be considered the most modern public bus stand in Sri Lanka. The 60,000 sq.ft bus stand has 78 shops, a public restaurant, office spaces, film hall and resting and waiting halls for passengers. The bus stand can accommodate nearly 35,000 passengers.

Felix Perera, Minister of Social Services, Mervyn Silva, Minister of Public Affairs and Public Relations, Sarath Gunarathna, Deputy Minister of State Resources and Enterprise Development, Pandu Bandaranayake, Deputy Minister of Indigenous Medicine, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Deputy Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Hosing and Common Amenities, Sarana Gunawardena, Deputy Minister of Petroleum Industries, Dulip Wijesekara, Deputy Minister of Disaster Management, Prasanna Ranatunge, Chief Minister of Western Province, Nimal Lanza, Western Province Minister of Road Development, Housing and Constructions, Fisheries and Tourism and Members of Parliament Sudharshani Fernadofulle, Ruwan Ranathunga, and Wasantha Senanayaka also participated.
