KIK Cola joins hands with Naadro

Naadro Director Asoka Wickramaratne, Naadro Band Leader Rakitha Wickramaratne, Vice President JKH/ Head of Beverages Elephant House Chandima Perera, Assistant Vice President JKH Marketing Head- Beverages Elephant House Niranjan Palipane, Elephant House Brand Executive Rashintha Ferdinando

As their name suggests, their music has everything to do with sound and rhythm and currently they have a magnitude of fans who follow them for their exhilarating moments of reverberating beats and sound, influenced by Sri Lankan percussion spheres.

Today, KIK Cola - Sri Lanka’s very own cola brand joins hands with Naadro, for an affiliation they believe will bring their own very own local flavour into the music industry.

Friendship, along with a common love of rhythm and sounds brought these artistes together. “And this is exactly what our brand stands for,” states Chandima Perera, Vice President - Beverages of Elephant House.

“Since our launch into Sri Lanka late last year, KIK has continuously strived to strengthen our position as a brand that is truly local and one that supports Lankan youth by constantly backing local talent. We believe that Naadro is an act with whom we can celebrate the uniqueness of being Lankan.”

Naadro is a percussion ensemble well known in Sri Lanka performing with Sri Lankan drums, Indian drums, African and Latin percussions. The music of Sri Lanka originates in cultural traditions deriving from three influences: the religious practices of Buddhism, the aftereffects of Portuguese colonization, and the commercial and historical influence of Indian culture.

Percussion music has been deep rooted in the Sri Lankan culture and heritage for over 2000 years and Naadro via their extensive talent in performance has influenced these tunes to be pretty much a way of today’s Sri Lankan youth. Rakitha Wickramaratne the leader of Naadro commented “KIK Cola” is an inspiration to us as a truly local brand with deep roots in our motherland, but one that has been developed to international standards and will stand strong in any foreign market today.

“We are indeed proud to have the backing of such a brand, with whom we hope to make Sri Lanka proud”.

Naadro, within a short period of time, has gained popularity and recognition by performing at many major events in the country and today the percussionists have stepped in to the international arena by taking up their first international gig - to perform at the Grand Prix in Singapore.
