Wales close to WC quarters
A crushing bonus-point 81-7 win over Namibia left
Wales in prime position to reach the World Cup quarter-finals as
runners-up in Pool D on Monday. The Welsh ran in 12 tries to one
against a Namibian side that did well to contain the half-time score
to 22-0, but folded as the game went on and legs became weary after
a four-day turnaround from an 87-0 mauling by the Springboks.

Royal clinch U-15 Div. I title
A fine all round performance by Royal College,
Colombo helped them to clinch the Schools Under-15 Division I title
when they beat St. Sebestian’s College, Moratuwa by 86 runs in the
final played at CCC grounds yesterday.

Moratuwa BC qualify for semi-finals
Two ‘B’ division quarter final matches were
played when the Carlton Cup Basketball Championship continued at the
Police Park courts yesterday while Moratuwa BC qualified for the
semi finals by beating Air Force BC (79-71). Winners posted a 23
point lead at half time. C. Alwis and D. Barathi scored 33 and 19
points respectively for the winners while Shanaka Perera (20 points)
and M. Shabreen (14 points) were the best contributors for the
losers.
