First survey on terminally ill
Nadira GUNATILLEKE
For the first time in Sri Lankan history, a full survey will be
carried out on all bed ridden persons, suffering from life long
illnesses and those permanently disabled persons who need assistance.
The survey is to be conducted on October 6th under the National Health
Week, a Health Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman the survey will be conducted with the
assistance of the Public Administration, Local Government and Provincial
Councils Ministry. The main objective of this survey is providing
assistance to needy persons. There are many persons who are suffering
from various terminal illnesses and living without any assistance from
any institution.
The first day of the National Health Week has been allocated for all
members of Parliament to inspect state hospitals in their respective
electorates and prepare a list of their requirements. Health Minister
Maithripala Sirisena will look into the lists personally and provide the
requirements according to the priority list.
The main intention of the programme is building a close relationship
with hospital authorities, the political leadership, hospital
development committees and Workers Advisory Councils. Mosquito control
activities will take place during all seven days of the National Health
Week, he added. |
