SLINEX 2011 concludes
SLINEX 2011, the joint Indo-Sri Lanka naval
exercise held in Trincomalee aimed at enhancing interoperability
between the Indian and Sri Lankan navies concluded yesterday with
the participation of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Sri
Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake.

The Police yesterday arrested Lanka Newspapers
Company Managing Director Venura Herath and another employee in
connection with an assault on a person. Meanwhile, the Police also
arrested another employee of the company on a complaint made by
Herath.

Schoolboys in alleged theft released
Four schoolboys arrested for the alleged theft
of stationery, food items, groceries, textiles, mobile phones, crop
etc from houses, shops and cultivated land by the Ingiriya Police
Crime Investigation Unit were released by Horana magistrate Mahinda
