Swindling duo held

Wellawatta Police Anti Vice Squad arrested two persons who had been swindling prospective foreign job seekers for over Rs 45 million, in Moratuwa on Friday. The main suspect was with his mistress while the other was nabbed on information from the master racketeer.

Naked man not a ‘suspicious character’, says SSP

A man was arrested while loitering naked close to the Chavakachcheri post office and the main road in Jaffna yesterday morning. SSP Nevin Padmadeva of Jaffna Police said that the man believed to be a mentally unstable person and had been taken into custody and was produced before court.

Indo-Sri Lanka joint Naval exercises in Trinco

Sri Lanka Navy and Indian Navy will conduct a joint naval exercise off Trincomalee from today to 24. The exercise code-named ‘SLINEX II’ is aimed at enhancing interoperability of the two navies.
