Azhar Central have it easy

Azhar Central College Akurana entered the pre-quarter finals of the schools under 17 Division Three cricket tournament when they defeated Christ Church College, Matale by 175 runs in their final second round match played at Azhar Grounds, Akurana on Sunday.

Azhar Central College batting first scored 319 for 8 wickets in 50 overs. M U Umair Khan scored a fine 119 with 16 fours and two sixes off 115 deliveries.

Christ Church College in reply made 144 all out in 22 overs. Though they averaged nearly six runs per over but there was no substantial contribution by any of their batsmen to over haul their opponents’ total. M F Arkhil (3 for 12) and M M M Fahim (2 for 19) were the main wicket takers.

Azhar Central College: 319 for 8 in 50 overs (M U Umair Khan 119, M N M Nuslan 47, M R M Saffran 35, M B Hafiz Mohammed 21, W M A Wickremasinghe 3 for 45, K N Jayaratne 3 for 25).

Christ Church College: 144 all out in 22 overs (M S V Wanniasinghe 30, W N B Wickramasinghe 21, R R Madusanka 15, M F Arkhil 3 for 12, M M M Fahim 2 for 19).
