Third undergraduate research symposium
The Faculty of Agriculture is organizing its Third Undergraduate
Research Symposium on September 16, 2011 commemorating its’ 10th
Anniversary. The main purpose of organizing this symposium is to bring
scientists and students together and provide a common forum for students
to present and share their latest findings with colleagues, academic
community and stakeholders. It gives the students an impetus to
demonstrate their oral communication skills.
This annual symposium has been a remarkable event for producing
innovative graduates with sound analytical thinking and research skills.
The symposium would carry 67 oral presentations under a board range
of disciplines such as Agricultural Biology, Agronomy, Animal Science,
Post Harvest Technology, Soil Science, Water Management and Agricultural
and Engineering. The keynote address will be delivered by Prof Colin N
Pieris, the Director, Quality Assurance and accreditation Council on
‘Enhancement of the Quality of Higher Education for the 21st Century.’
The chief guest will be Prof K A Nandasena, Vice Chancellor, Rajarata
University of Sri Lanka. The research symposium is coordinated by Dr G A
S Ginigaddara under the supervision and guidance of Prof P A Weeraisnghe,
the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture. The Research Symposium will take place
at the Faculty Auditorium, 9.00 am onwards on September 16, 2011.
