The lucky group that went to Paris
|
In August 2011, 10 lucky students from Lyceum International School
were treated to an out-of-the-ordinary learning experience. They spent
ten magical days in the fabled City of Lights in the company of two of
their French teachers, visiting, sight-seeing and learning.

The participants were chosen from students offering French for O/L
and A/L Cambridge examinations from the Upper School section of Lyceum,
Nugegoda.
They were Dulari de Silva, Khoelie Perera, Binuri Guneratne, Chamodi
Wijeyawichrama, Nuha Meelaud, Giovanna Sapumohotti, Hasna Saleem,
Sanamini Ethakada, Tithira Jayasinghe and Joshua Perera. The two
accompanying French teachers were Udeshika Perera and Angelo Rozairo.
During the ten days in Paris, among other things, the students
visited the Louvre museum, the Eiffel Tower the museum of Orsay, the
Sacre Coeur Basilica, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, the
Tuilleries Gardens, the Lafayette Galleries, the Versailles Palace,
Disneyland, France Miniature (an educational theme park), the botanical
garden Le Jardin des Plantes, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Madalaine
Cathedral, the historic church at St. Germain en laye, the Roman-built
arena of Paris known as I’Arene de Lutece and la Garande Arche situated
at La Defence.
These main attractions were made all the more rich by the memorable
experiences that ensured. Buying souvenirs for friends and family in
French, visiting markets and discovering exotic fruits and vegetables,
ice cream treats, discovering different cuisines of the world,
pick-nicks in lovely green parks, a ferrous-wheel ride, spontaneous
conversations with curious natives delighted to know of our interest in
their language and culture and equally delighted at the level of French
of Lyceum students.
