Since Sri Lanka’s economy is quite likely to boom by leaps and bounds
more young blood is vital to drive the business ahead since their
creativity and inspirations are of utmost value if the country aspires
for a development epoch.
Representing Sri Lanka in Universal Freight Management Conference
which was recently held in Chiangmai, Thailand, Sajitha De Mel who is an
upcoming figure in the area of logistics, a booming and moving business
in the service sector, cuts an exemplary figure.
Sajitha de Mel who is 27 years old is running a logistic firm by the
name UCL Logistics (Pvt) Ltd which is a member company of Expo Lanka
Holdings which has been listed in the IPO (Initial Public Offering)
recently.
Universal
Freight Management Conference (UFMAC ) is annually held to discuss the
future of the freight industry which has become the life blood in the
liberal market of export and imports.
Speaking to Daily News Punch Sajitha said ‘As a young person I am
very proud to have been able to represent the country in an
international conference.
One of the key reasons why I am happy about it is that the conference
was presided by Jayantha Liyanagama who also is a Sri Lankan. He
represented Dubai.’
At the meeting freight forward agents from countries like Turkey,
Belgium, Indian , Malaysia, China, Australia, Spain, Singapore, Saudi
Arabia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, Italy, Maldives, Bangladesh,
Pakistan and Germany gathered to discuss the future Challenges of the
logistic industry.
‘As a proud member of UFMAG UCL logistics carried out the first Sri
Lankan rail container transport for Prima wheat export purposes from
Trincomalee to Colombo port for the very first time with the support of
Expo Lanka Group. I should thank our group CEO Hannif Yussof, for his
guidance,” said Sajitha.
“I also thanks Prima, Sri Lankan Railway, Sri Lanka Customs,
Expolanka and the UCL Logistics which supported me immensely to make my
efforts a success. After the success I achieved from trail operation it
enabled me to represent an International conference,” said Sajitha.
In fact, Sri Lanka should be proud to have young people who try to
drive the Sri Lankan economy with their creative and innovative ideas. |
