Senior Minister visits Northern Province Agriculture Exhibition

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa participated as chief guest at the final day inauguration ceremony of the Northern Province Agriculture Exhibition 2011 held at the District Agriculture Training Centre Complex, Thirunelveli, Jaffna last Saturday.

The Northern Provincial Agriculture Ministry organized this agriculture exhibition under the theme “Way forward for sustainable eco-friendly agriculture”.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa and guests visited several stalls. They visited several booths organized by various government institutions which included the Palmyrah Development Board, and the Coconut Development Board, Livestock Development Board, etc. They also visited private institutions’ booths which displayed latest equipment, machineries, tractors, water pumps, agricultural products, a variety of fertilizers and so on.

Senior Minister A H M Fowzie, Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda, Industry and Commerce Minister Rishard Bathiudeen, Northern Province Governor G A Chandrasiri and Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Deputy Minister Weerakumara Dissanayake also participated.
