Scan Engineering one of the fastest growing engineering companies
engaged in mechanical and electrical installations in Sri Lanka
yesterday entered into a distribution agreement with ThyssenKrupp
Elevator, which is a premier elevator manufacturer and service provider
headquarted in Germany.
Scan Engineering announced its appointment as the exclusive
distributor of ThyssenKrupp Elevators in Sri Lanka.
Scan Engineering and Scan Agencies Managing Director Keerthi
Abeynayake said the ongoing development initiatives and the booming
tourism industry will definitely benefit business immensely and has
already been working on a few large projects to introduce ThyssenKrupp
elevator products such as passenger and freight elevators, escalators,
moving walks and other products to the local market.
In addition, the company aspires to play a vital role in the local
mechanical and electrical engineering industry which has been neglected
for a long period and will set up a complete engineering company to
offer tailormade, quality and safe products to the developers in the
country.
Abeynayake said global hotel brands have shown willingness to
initiate mega hotel projects in the country and will spend half million
dollars for interior decorations of elevators to be set up at these
hotels.
According to Abeynayake the company has received 35 enquiries to
supply elevators for high rise building to be built in the country.
However as far as the elevator industry is concerned, it is
regrettable to note that Sri Lanka is still using outdated and insecure
elevators and that has posed a grave threat for passenger safety. He
highlighted the importance of formulating new rules and regulations for
the safety of the passengers using elevators.
