Competitions to mark World Habitat Day

An art and an essay competition among the children in flats and tenements in the Colombo district will be held to mark World Habitat Day.

The competition themed 'Settlements and Living home' will be held on October 3. The World Habitat Day falls each year on the first Monday in October.

Winners will be presented with awards, certificates and scholarships at a grand ceremony at Viharamahadevi open theatre on October 2.

The essay competition will be held in both Tamil and Sinhala languages under two categories. The junior level will be from 12 to 15 years while the senior level will be from 16 to 19 years.

The art competition will be conducted in three categories. Children in the age groups 5-8, 9-12 and 13-19 are eligible to apply.
