The Prime Minister's Office is implementing a programme to foster
positive attitudes in Sri Lankans with a view to creating a noble
society with economic development, under the theme of Yahapath
Sithak-Sawimath Ratak.
Under this, a drama series themed Piya Geta Pela created on the
concept of Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne will be telecast Sundays from
September 18 at 7 pm on Rupavahini.
The Prime Minister's Office said that such a series of activities are
designed to promote rapid economic development in the country as
envisaged in the Mahinda Chintana Future Vision.
Parallel to the ongoing programmes aimed at economic development
there are several other concepts that are to be put into operation to
bring about social uplift in the country.
According to Prime Minister's Secretary Tissa Amarasekara, a society
devoid of bribery and corruption, a nation that nurtures peace and
tranquility of mind together with balanced intellect and a healthy

practices are the concepts which have to be put into operation to ensure
progress in society.
There are several norms and practices to be developed in Sri Lankan
society and there is a great responsibility on the country's
administration to develop positive attitudes, Amarasekara said.
