Nature farm bears fruit

The Human Resources and Corporate Development Institute together with the National Farmers Assembly under the guidance of Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena commenced a nature farm in a land belonging to the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agricultural Research Institute, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo which lay barren for several years.

About half an acre of marshy land has been a dumping ground for old tyres for years.

The project was initiated by Human Resources and Corporate Development institute Head Professor M.S. Senanayaka together with National Farmers Assembly President Thilak Kandegama.

No fertilizer or pesticides are used in this farm and seeds used are local varieties instead of hybrids which require chemical fertilizers.
