Britain, European govts helped US commit ‘countless’ crimes, colluding with torture

Britain and other European governments have helped the US commit “countless” crimes by colluding with torture and illegal rendition operations in America’s war on terror, Europe’s human rights watchdog has said.

Assange slams Western media

Julian Assange, the founder of whistleblower website Wikileaks has harshly criticized Western news outlets for distorting information, describing them as “liars.” “Media organizations that proudly tell the public that they seek the truth are liars,” Assange said in a lecture delivered by video conference on Thursday during the opening of an InfoTrends event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the Huffington Post reported.

Talks for surrender of Kadhafi bastion fail

Negotiations for the surrender of Moamer Kadhafi’s forces in the Libyan town of Bani Walid failed Sunday and will not resume, an official said, opening the way for a military attack. “I am leaving the military commander to resolve the problem,” said Abdullah Kenshil, the chief negotiator for the anti-Kadhafi National Transitional Council (NTC).

'Tortured' Libyan rebel calls for US, UK apology

A senior Libyan rebel commander Monday demanded an apology from Britain and the US after seized documents suggested both countries were complicit in a plan that led to his detention and torture. Files unearthed from Moamer Kadhafi's intelligence archives and seen by AFP documented the capture by the CIA of Abdel-Hakim Belhaj in Bangkok in 2004 and his forcible repatriation to Libya, where he had fought the old regime.
