Training to enhance technology skills

A training programme for 300 persons engaged in carpentry and masonry industries in the Anuradhapura district organized by the Construction Training and Development Institute (CTDI) was inaugurated by Construction, Engineering Services Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa at the Anuradhapura Youth Resort recently.

Addressing the participants, Minister Weerawansa said this training programme would help produce carpenters and masons armed with latest technological skills who could find lucrative jobs here and abroad.

With the expansion of the construction industry, the demand for talented carpenters and masons had been increasing and the training programme was launched by the Construction Training and Development Institute to meet that demand.

Those who successfully completed the training would be issued a special identity card and a certificate of international standard. Deputy Minister W B Ekanayake, NHDA Chairman Jayantha Samaraweera and CTDI Chairman Udula Bandara Oushadahamy were also present.
