Prawn culture in Elephant Pass

Prawn culture is to be undertaken on the Eastern side of Elephant Pass at Chundikulam lagoon.

At a meeting held at the Kilinochchi secretariat it was decided to introduce 50,000 fingerlings in the lagoon in January next year.

Police anniversary celebrated

The 145th anniversary of the Police force was celebrated in all police stations in Jaffna.

The police stations were gaily lighted with multi coloured electric bulbs, banners and streamers. The public joined with the police in their celebrations.

At Tellipallai, the name board of the police station was opened by Pradeshiya Sabha Secretary, S. Muralitharan. The OIC Tellipallai Police station welcomed the people and served them refreshments.

Northern Spring develops roads

Under the Northern Spring programme, 16 village roads will be rehabilitated in Mullaithivu district. Fifty kilometres of roads in the AGAs divisions of Puthukudiirrippu, Oddusuddan and Karaithui Pattu will be rehabilitated.

The Paranthan - Pooneryn road and Mankulam - Vellamkulam road will also be rehabilitated.
