Annual Bahirawa Pooja tomorrow

The annual Bahirawa Pooja will be held tomorrow at Anuradhapura Abhayagiriya Rajamaha Viharaya on a grand scale. Chief Prelate of Abhayagiri Viharaya, Ven Kallanchiye Rathanasiri Thera organizes this ritual under the directions of Chief Sanghanayaka of North and Central Provinces of the Malwatu sector of Siyam Maha Nikaya and Atamasthanadhipathi, Dr Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera.

The ceremony will begin at 6.00 pm with Sabdha Pooja, Aloka Pooja, Mal Pahan Pooja and later the main item Bahirawa Pooja will begin. These events will be followed by Sri Vishnu Deva Pooja and the annual milk boiling ceremony. Finally, Deva Dana will be offered to all the devotees. This religious ceremony is held annually to invoke blessings on the country, the people, the three forces and Police, the government and the President.
