Delegation from Henan visits Sri Lanka

To promote outbound tourism:

In a bid to promote outbound tourism a delegation to promote tourism from China’s Henan province visited Sri Lanka last week and they had a meeting with local tourism representatives at Hotel Taj Samudra on Friday. The Chinese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Yang Xiuping also attended the meeting.

The delegation comprised, People’s Government of Henan Province Vice Governor Kong Yufang, Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau Director, Fan Xiufang, Henan Tourism Administration International Marketing and Promotion Department Director Zhou Yaoxia, Henan Provincial People’s Government Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Vice Director Fu Jinsong and the People’s Government of Henna Province Secretary, Chen Ming.


Henan is where the Shaolin Temple renowned for martial arts is situated.

People’s Government of Henan Province Vice Governor Yufang outlined tourist attractions of Henan.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotional Bureau Officer-in-Charge for Far Eastern Markets, Ushan Edirisinghe told Daily News Business that although their core business is promoting inbound tourism, they are facilitating the Sri Lankan tour operators as part of their give-and-take policy.

The Chinese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Yang Xiuping also spoke of the trade opportunities between Sri Lanka and China.


The scenic beauty of Henan.

Located in the central part by East of China on the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, Henan has a population of over 100 million. History has shown great concern for Henan, a vast and profound land full of vitality. During China’s history of 5,000 years, Henan served as a political, economic and cultural centre for 3,000 years or so. Henan, richly endowed by nature, has many green mountains and clear waters.

It has many scenic sights and its’ beautiful scenery is included in many traditional Chinese paintings. Henan, a land with splendid culture, has colourful and fascinating scenic spots. The Longmen Grottos situated in Henan is a world cultural heritage. There are over 2,340 niches, in the Western and Eastern Hills, over 70 Buddhist pagodas and over 100,000 statues in total.

They will be of immense interest to the Sri Lankan Buddhists as some of the oldest Buddhist art in existence.

Shaolin Temple of martial arts fame is also situated in Henan.
