Somali Al-Shabab militants return to Mogadishu
SOMALIA: Fighting has broken out between Somali al-Shabaab Islamist
fighters and government troops in Mogadishu. The latest skirmish comes
just days after militants announce they abandoned the capital.
Established in 2004, Somali traditional government is backed by 9,000
African Union troops.
Spread gunfire and shooting could be heard on Thursday as AU soldiers
position themselves in trenches about al-Shabaab. Al-Shabaab controls
third Mogadishu until Saturday morning when its fighters abandoned all
their bases in the capital. Xinhua |
