Explosives recovered in Kilinochchi

Kilinochchi police detected a large haul of explosives buried in a village in the Kilinochchi police division, on a tip off received on Saturday.

The explosives have been concealed by LTTE in Kuravil village, Viswamadu. Among the explosives, a large quantity of TNT and C4 were detected. The explosives were concealed in gas cylinders so as to protect them for a long period. Accordingly, police have detected 180 kg of TNT in two Oxygen cylinders while another 70 kg of explosives in another cylinder. In addition, 25 kg of C4 explosives concealed in iron rods were also unearthed.

No suspect has been taken into custody in connection with this incident. Kilinochchi police are investigating.
