CPC chairman denies fuel tampering allegations
The controversial oil stock will not be altered till recommendations
by the three member committee appointed to investigate the issue submits
its report. The oil stock will never be mixed with quality fuel and will
not be put to any use till the investigation is over, Ceylon Petroleum
Corporation chairman M.R.W. de Soyza said in a press release.
It further said the allegation made by UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera in
Parliament was baseless and no action has yet been taken on the
controversial oil stock. “They have never been mixed with normal petrol
as accused by the parliamentarian, he said.
It pointed out that petrol, diesel and kerosene distributed from
Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela oil laboratories are unloaded from tankers
and distributed only after carrying out tests by independent analysts
who verify the quality of oil prior to distribution, Ceylon Petroleum
Storage Terminals Ltd (CPSTL) sources said.
It further said all petroleum products issued from these laboratories
are within specifications and distribution is subjected to thorough
supervision by the CPC chairman and CPSTL chairman and other officials
responsible for maintaining the quality of fuel.
Any fuel supplier including Emirates National Oil Corporation (ENOC)
are subjected to laboratory tests.
It is confirmed that the fuel issued from CPSTL Kolonnawa to Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (LIOC) are
within specifications. |
