President signs Lumbini Development Trust deed

President Mahinda Rajapaksa signed the Lumbini Development Trust deed at Temple Trees yesterday.

Lumbini Development Trust was established to develop Lumbini, the birth place of The Buddha. When President Mahinda Rajapaksa toured Nepal as a representative and a member of the Parliamentary Board in 1970, he found the importance of developing Lumbini. As a result, the Lumbini Trust was formed and functioned as the key responsible body to engage in development work on the sacred land of Lumbini.

Public trustee N.S.A.S. Seneviratne and members of the Lumbini Development Trust were also present.
