Best Model of the World 2011:
Sri Lanka wins Best National Costume
L Nalinda Sampath of Sri Lanka, won the Best National Costume title
at the Best Model of the World Pageant held in Sofia, Bulgaria,
recently. Venuka Yasasri Wickramaarachchi designed the red and gold
costume which enthralled the onlookers and won the judge’s applause.

This is the first time that Sri Lanka had taken part in a globally
renowned fashion and modeling pageant open to professional models.
Around 70 countries competed for the title of Best Model of the World in
the male and female categories.
Piumi Sudeshika also took part in the event as the Sri Lankan female
participant of the event. Nalinda and Piumi are students of former model
Vasana Danthanarayana’s V Academy for Fashion & Modeling. They hail form
Colombo and had both won ‘Model of the Future 2010’ titles. All the
expenses of the Sri Lankan models were handled by R&V Entertainments.
