Peraharaka Pelahara (Splendour of a Pageant) is a novel-reading
experience for the viewers of this historic pageant. Many spectators do
not have correct awareness of the cultural aspects of this exposition of
the grand religious and cultural event. It’s a massive responsibility to
the Maligawa to find solutions.
Publishing Peraharaka Pelahara a guide book for this year’s pageant
of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a timely attempt by Diyawadana Nilame
Pradeep Nilanga Dela on the advice of the Mahanayake Theras of Malwathu
and Asgiriya Chapters. So far the local and foreign viewers only
witnessed the pageant but from this year they could self study the
splendour of the pageant with the aid of this book which is a historical
background of this sacred event. We can be self assured, that the
spectators who were accustomed to different versions could achieve a
true understanding from this book. It is a praiseworthy contribution.
With the guidance of editorial director Krishantha Hissella and
tireless efforts of Chief Editor and Senior Journalist Krishantha
Dayananda and Folk Love Researcher Mahinda Kumara Dalupotha it was made
into a successful publication of international standard. It has around
80 exclusive colour pictures and will serve as a travelogue as well. |
