Mail delivery streamlined

The delivery of mail in the Niwasapura area in Ja-Ela, Boralesgamuwa and its suburbs, and Mt Lavinia and Ratmalana areas has been streamlined by deploying new postal delivery personnel and other measures by the Department of Posts following instructions given by Post Master General M K B Dissanayake recently.

The Post Master General in a communique said the mail delivery service which was disrupted in the Niwasapura area for the last 10 years has now been restored and expedited by deploying new delivery staff. This has benefited people in seven housing schemes around Ja-Ela.

At the request of Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, the delivery of mail in Boralesgamuwa and surrounding areas was streamlined by demarcating new delivery zones and deploying two additional delivery personnel.

Accordingly, the Maharagama Post Office is handling mail deliveries to Katuwawala, Ambagahapura and Ambillawatte areas.

The mail delivery system in Mt Lavinia and Ratmalana too have been streamlined by shifting certain zones which come under the Mt Lavinia Post Office to the Ratmalana Post Office and providing all other necessary facilities. Meanwhile, mail transport to Galle, Matara, Moneragala and Ampara too have been expedited to ensure a better delivery service to people in outstation areas.
