Army women win their first encounter

Sri Lanka Army womens cricket team registered a comfortable win against Gothami Sports Club in their women's limited overs cricket tournament match conducted by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and played at Army Cricket Ground, Panagoda. Army womens team was formed just three months ago but provided a good display of cricket against Gothami SC and posted a nine wicket victory in their very first match.

Army bowlers skittled out their opponents for 41 runs in 19.1 overs. K. N. Karunarathne did the greatest damage to the Gothami SC batting line up by picking 4 for 12 while N. N. D. Silva claimed 2 for 4. In contrast Army displayed a fierce batting show and reached the target in 3.5 overs for one wicket. R. M. Perera scored 18 not out for Army. Amali Perera captained the Army team and they will meet Shakthi team on July 20 at the same venue.
