Kavadi off Randoli

Devinuwara Sri Vishnu Maha Devale Basnayake Nilame Dishan Wickramaratne Gunasekara has taken action to ban Kavadi dancers taking part in the Randoli Maha Perahera.

This decision were taken by the Basnayake Nilame as kavadi dances are not connected to Sri Vishnu deity. He also said that the dancers taking part always tend to do so under the influence of liquor.

The organizing committies of the Parahera says that the Kavadi dancers were included to the perahera only after 1972 in its history of 754 years.
