Milch cows to be released for Poya

The Mount Lavinia Buddhist Institute will release over 40 milch cows to mark the 2600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi, said Buddhist Institute, Mt Lavinia Chief Incumbent Ven Diviyagaha Yasassi Thera. This will be held on July 14, Esala Full moon Poya day, at the Buddhist Institute premises.

Around Rs 800,000 will be spent for this task. The Institute’s Devotees Society will handover the released milch cows to farmers in Kekirawa, Bogahawewa on July 16. The second religious ceremony will be organized under the patronage of Ven Habarannawala Dhamminda Thera with the participation of the Police and Kekirawa Divisional Secretariat. Around 100 schoolchildren will also receive prizes under this programme.
