President unveils Lanka’s first gold-plated Dagoba
The country’s first Dagoba made of brass and plated with gold was
unveiled by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Sri Dharma Viharaya in
Kalapaluwawa Rajagiriya yesterday. This Dagoba which is 21 feet in
height was constructed at the temple premises under the patronage of
Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven. Dr. Delduwe Gnanasumana Thera.
President Rajapaksa also unveiled the pinnacle of the Dagaba and the
commemorative plaque to mark opening of the Dagaba. The President made
offerings to the newly unveiled Dagaba.
A group of artistes sang a song written by Chief Incumbent of the
Temple Dr. Delduwe Gnanasumana Thera to bless the country’s development
drive.This song was composed by Navaratne Gamage.
A website consisting of the information of Ven Delduwe Gnanasumana
Thera and the Vishva Shakthi Nikethanaya was also launched by the
President. Ven. Hunugampola Rathanasara Thera living in Japan made an
Anusasana. |
