Visual and Performing Arts University felicitates Professors

University of Visual and Performing Arts felicitated Professor Sanath
Nandasiri, Professor Amara Ranathunga and Professor Albert Dharmasiri
conferring them the Professor Emeritus title for their unique
contribution and devotion to the betterment of the university of Visual
and Performing Arts.

The felicitation ceremony was held at the University recently under
the patronage of Chancellor Doctor Pandith WD Amaderawa, Vice Chancellor
Professor Jayasena Kottegoda and Deans of the faculties.
Addressing the gathering Vice Chancellor Kottegoda highly appreciated
the services of the three professors. He said that the dedication of
these professors is among the main reasons for the success of the
university.
Professor Sanath Nandasiri is the first professor in Sri Lanka who
obtained professorship for music. Professor Amara Ranathunga is the
first female professor in the country who obtained professorship for
music. Both have obtained the highest position in music dedicating their
lives for it.
Several other academic and non-academic staff members' long service
was also recognized.
They have been serving for over 25 years at the university.
In addition, the service of a driver who has taken only three days
leave during the last year was also appreciated. |
