Saudi dates for Ramadhan

The government of Saudi Arabia has sent a consignment of 150 metric tons of dates for the Ramadhan fasting period.

The consignment was handed over by Saudi Arabian Ambassador Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman Al Jammaz to Urban Affairs Senior Minister AHM Fowzie yesterday at the Saudi Arabian Embassy.

Saudi Arabia has been providing dates for Sri Lankan Muslims for several years as a mark of gratitude and friendship between the two countries. Saudi Arabia has taken steps to hand over a large quantity of dates for local Muslims this year too, Senior Minister Fowzie said.
