Yoga:
Mandukasana
Manduka means a frog. The posture gets its name because the person
performing it resembles a frog. The frog posture is suitable for
improving the flexibility of the legs, especially the thigh muscles.

Step 1 - Fold both legs at the knees and take them backwards, such
that the big toes of your feet touch each other. Keep your knees as far
apart on both sides. Place your hands on your knees. Face front and
breathe in and out for about seven or eight seconds.
Step 2 – Place your left palm on your right shoulder and your right
palm on your left shoulder. Cross your arms. Remain in this asana up to
ten seconds.
Benefits of the asana:
* This is a good exercise for the upper parts of the body as well as
the lower section.
* Helps reduce excess fat in the body, especially in the thigh, hip
and abdominal region.
* Helps in toning the muscles of the thigh region and increasing the
flexibility of the legs.
It assists in the cure of pain in the knees, ankles and back.
Persons suffering from backache, heart-related problems and severe
pain in the leg joints should avoid performing this posture. |
