always melt the girl’s heart.

And now it looks like flowers have the same effect in the animal
kingdom too. In Ukraine, a male sand lizard tries to impress a female by
climbing up a plant with a bunch of flowers that he plucked with his
mouth. And the female, obviously impressed by the unusual gesture, also
climb to the plant to reach him. But then it takes a Titanic turn, as
the female dramatically falls from the plant, possibly because the plant
could not hold both of them. And the male lizard looks as if he was
really trying to save her and was reaching for her with his arm.
Finally, they both reunite on the ground.
This romantic drama was photographed by University student Alexey
Tymoshenko at his parents’ garden in Ukraine.
“When I was a child one of the favourite things I used to do was play
in the garden and watch the lizards,” he says after successfully
capturing the lizard love.
“For many years I’ve learnt their behaviour - if you’re friendly with
them they are friendly with you because they get used to you and usually
30 minutes is enough for them to understand you won’t do them any harm
and now I can photograph them without them being afraid of me.
But I never thought they could be so passionate and helpful to each
other. It was amazing watching one drop and the male dive to catch her.’
Hopefully, the lizard lovers lived happily ever after.
