State Music Festival:
Entries close July 15

A Cultural Affairs Department spokesman told the Daily News that the
Cultural Affairs Department has begun accepting music creations for the
State Music Festival-2011.
Applications should be sent with CDs before July 15, to the Director,
Cultural Affairs Department, 8th floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla.
The State Music Festival is organized by the Cultural and Arts
Affairs Ministry with the participation of Cultural Affairs Department
and the Sri Lanka Arts Board, the spokesman said.
Creations can be presented in Sinhala and Tamil. Awards will be
presented for each medium.
The best song of the year -solo, (male and female), the best
children's song - solo(male and female), the best folk song of the year
solo (male and female), tune, music creations, lyrics, song visuals,
children lyrics (open), childrens tunes and music creations, childrens
visuals written, children song CD, folk song groups, folk song-new
creations can be presented. The State Music Festival will cover 16 areas
of music. The spokesman said that, one individual could present one
creation under a single topic.
All creations should be originals. These creations should have
creativity of high quality and creations should not challenge humanity,
he added.
