Pushpadana, Dharmaraja register wins

Pushpadana Girl's College, Kandy, put up a fine performance to score a fine 3-0 win over St. Anthony's Girl's College, Kandy in their Kandy schools girls under 17 hockey tournament match played at the University grounds, Peradeniya. At half time Pushpadana stickers led 2-0.

It was a top class performance by the Pushpadana girls as they were up against a strong opponents whom they overcame with a convincing margin of victory.

The Antonian girls could have restricted their opponents or lost by a closer margin if they had more positional play as they missed many potential scoring opportunities.

Goal scores for Pushpadana Girl's College were Chamari Bandara (1), Nilushi Bandara (1) and Chathurika Ekanayake (1) who scored off a short corner.

Mangala Karunaratne and K. Ekanayake umpired.

In a match of the boys under 17 tournament Dharmaraja College, Kandy scored an easy 5-0 win over Vidyartha College, Kandy at the same venue. At half time Rajans led 3-0.

Highlight of the match was the fine performance of 14 year old Rajans Rameel Dharamaratne who slammed the first three goals to score a hat-trick and in all he scored four goals. The other goal was scored by C.P. Bandara.

D. Dissanayake and M. Karunaratne umpired.
