wide ranging discussions yesterday
morning. The bilateral agreement
between Sri Lanka and Bahrain to
prevent double taxation gained
prominence during the discussions.

National Mosquito
Control Week:
Over 2,800 dengue larvae places
detected on fourth day
The fourth day
of the National Mosquito Control
Week ended with the detection of
2,808 places with dengue mosquito
larvae. Legal action was taken
against 1,811 people whose homes and
gardens were found to have mosquito
breeding nurseries, a Health
Ministry spokesman said.

millionaire population:
Sri Lanka among 10 economies
Six of the 10
economies with the fastest growing
millionaire populations were in
Asia, led by Hong Kong and Vietnam,
which each saw an annual growth of
33 percent. Others included Sri

India, the 15th annual World Wealth
Report by Merrill Lynch’s wealth

Cop kidnapped at Dambulla found
on Chilaw beach
A police
constable found in Iranawila beach,
Chilaw, gagged and with his hands
and legs tied, was rescued and
admitted to the Chilaw Base Hospital
by the Chilaw Police on Thursday
around 8.30 p.m. following a tip-off
from a member of the public.

Walallawita Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Udeni Atukorala was arrested by Bribery Commission officials for allegedly soliciting a Rs 1.5 million bribe from the Bentara Paradeshiya Sabha chairman. It is reported that he had accepted the bribe to provide a permit to transport soil.
