Jacky, Ladies Stroke Play winner

Jacky Diasz walked away with the Sri Lanka Ladies Stroke Play
Championship Trophy at the Royal Colombo Golf Club recently. It was
sponsored by the Mackwoods Ltd. Jacky scored 251 grand total to become
champion with a two strokes lead to the runner up Niloo Jayathilake
(253). The winner maintained a flawless record through out the
tournament, and kept her lead in all three days (82-84-85).

R Sangani emerged as the Bronze Cup winner (Handicap of 21-36) with a
286 grand total while M C Sellayah had to settle for runner up position
(301). Sangani folded up with a considerable 15 stroke lead to her
opponent Sellayah.
Meanwhile the Nuwara Eliya Cup (Handicap of 36 and under) was
clinched by the French lady Anne Popoff keeping the local lady golfer M
C Sellayah in the second place.
Three net winners were awarded on daily basis where S Selvaratnam was
picked as the day-1 nett winner while Rasika and Sandya were awarded the
second and final day nett awards respectively.
Co-Chairman of the Mackwoods Ltd Nirmalee Samaratunge was the chief
guest at the award ceremony while Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU) President
Tony Witham, SLGU Secretary Ana Punchihewa and Vice President of the
Royal Colombo Golf Club Priath Fernando were also present at the awards
ceremony. |
