Speed Racing Series Round III:
Young Riders a threat to veterans

The Speed Championship 2011 round III series jointly organized by the
Ceylon Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club, Motor Racing
Association and the Asian Motor Racing Club will be held tomorrow at the
Pannala Race track. Its the third stage of the Championship which has
five rounds.

The round II was held successfully in May this year which drew a
considerable amount of entries and spectators as the Pannala track was
available after a long. The competitors experienced a revamped track
with improved safety facilities while the spectators enjoying quality
racing.
The popular events will include the SL-GT 3500CC, SL-H 1600 cc and
the one make classes of the Mini, Nissan March, Ford Laser and the
Formula Ford together with the Formula McLarens 1300. The championship
will also make way for newcomers tobehind the wheel of Formula Mclarens
1300 event and also the Suzuki Maruti/Alto class. The points gained from
this meet will be considered for the 2011 National Championship of the
Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS). There will be a host Motor Cycle
events worked off as well and those results too will be accounted for
the the National Championship of the Federation of Motor Cycle Sports in
Sri Lanka.
According to organizers few foreign riders are due to participate in
the Motor Cycle events.
The organizers have made arrangements to run qualifying rounds for
bikes too in order to determine a grid position. This is a new rule
brought in for Motor Cycles by Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association to
uplift the standards of the Sport. |
