The Sri Lankan Under-21 girls hockey team showed lots of talents at
the recently concluded third Asian Hockey Federation Trophy tournament
organized by the Asian Hockey Federation at Bangkok, Thailand by
emerging runner-up. This victory also made them eligible to play at the
Asian Trophy Junior Hockey Tournament to be held in 2012.
The competition which also saw the participation of Thailand, China,
Taipei, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and Indonesia and the Sri Lankan team
comprised of 18 players and was captained by Nadika Kumari of Sri Lanka
Navy.
Sri Lanka took on Chinese Taipei in the final on June 12 and emerged
silver medalists.
The countries wining gold, silver and bronze at this tournament are
eligible to play at the Asian Junior Hockey Tournament. |
