Pledge to construct 500,000 housing units

The All Ceylon Agricultural Research and Production Assistant Officers Union's Western Province Council Member S A D Jagath Kumara, said that, their Union was ready to support the construction of 500,000 housing units, out of the 1,000,000 housing units under the Divi Neguma project of Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Secondly, the union hopes to win their rights and facilities, he said.

He was addressing a press conference at the premises of the Agrarian Services and Wildlife Ministry yesterday.

At present the government is listening to the problems of unions. The government has taken action to provide them with a traveling allowance for the last 14 years. With this facility, the government has taken action to provide office equipment and had taken steps to activate the service minutes, he said.
