Exhibition to introduce industrial economic units

An exhibition to introduce domestic industrial economic units under
the Divinaguma programme, will be held today and tomorrow at the
Homagama Central College.
Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Deputy
Minister, Weerakumara Dissanayake, addressing the media yesterday at the
Information Department, said that domestic industrial economic units
were to be launched throughout the country, aiming atstrengthening the
rural economy.
The programme for the establishment of domestic industrial economic
units would come, under five stages. At present 5,000 people had been
identified as beneficiaries in the Colombo district. The ministry would
provide them with necessary training and engage them in the
technological exchange process.
Raw material and basic equipment to start industries, would be
provided after the completion of training.
The Economic Development Ministry would grant Rs 10,000 for each
selected family to establish domestic industrial economic units with the
objective of the Mahinda Chinthana to develop the family, village and
area, and thereby develop the entire country.
A pilot programme to introduce domestic industrial economic units
would commence today and it would expand to other parts of country as
well.
The exhibition is jointly organized by five ministries including
Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development. |
